Autumn and mixed metaphors!

Just had season change, and Samhain (Summer's-End, in English.) Brought w/it the "fall back" part of "spring forward, fall back." The light's really different now. Reminds me of a brief seasonal invocation to Persephone:

Lady Dark, and Lady Bright
Winter's cold, and Spring's new light
Queen of the Underworld,
Daughter of the Spring,
Join us now, Your lesson bring.

And that display of contrasts is just about what I'm seeing now in the cycle of the year, and also in other parts of my life. I guess sometimes the Autumn within has to match itself to the Autumn without, cos I am also shedding some leaves, (metaphorically speaking!) and preparing for a period of dormancy.

The hustle and bustle, the slings and arrows of life, and its other, subtler things, can roll on perfectly well w/o me for awhile - I shall curl up my essence into a ball and dream of Spring. Perhaps the world will be sunnier then.
